BlackRidge Land Company, the only complete land sales and services company in Alabama, announced today that President Tom Jernigan, Jr. has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF).
Jernigan and BlackRidge Land Company have been long-time supporters of the AWF, sponsoring events in cities across the state of Alabama like the annual Wild Game Cook-Offs, with proceeds aiding conservation education, resource stewardship projects and similar initiatives that benefit Alabama’s natural resources and wildlife. Through his involvement, Jernigan plans to actively engage with AWF committees that will focus on improving wildlife conditions throughout the state.
The Alabama Wildlife Federation is the oldest and largest non-profit conservation organization in the state, established by sportsmen in 1935 to promote the conservation and wise use of our wildlife and natural resources. The reason for AWF’s founding continues today and is “a basis for the social and economic prosperity of present and future generations, through wise use and responsible stewardship of our wildlife, forests, fish, soils, water and air.”
“It is truly an honor for me to be a part of an organization that I hold in such high regard,” said Jernigan. “The Alabama Wildlife Federation is responsible for so many initiatives that have had a positive effect on our abundant natural resources in the state of Alabama and I am excited to do my part in advancing their mission.”
BlackRidge Land Co. shares AWF’s aspiration to guarantee a high quality of life for future generations of Alabamians, and with Jernigan a board member, BlackRidge is positioned to not only continue teaching younger generations of Alabamians about responsible land ownership and stewardship, but also spur others to do the same.
“We are really looking forward to having Tom as a member of the AWF board. His experience combined with his interest in all things concerning land in Alabama will be invaluable to our team,” said Tim L. Gothard, Executive Director of Alabama Wildlife Federation.
